I’ve finally had a chance to get through the backlog photos from my New Years trip into Wheeler Hut in Glacier National Park. For those that are unawares, Rogers Pass is pretty much the backcountry skiing mecca as it boasts perhaps the best (easiest) road access, incredible terrain, and consistently amazing snow. Our crew was nearly a dozen deep and included a wide range of backcountry experience and drinking abilities, perfectly suited for a New Years Dance Party extravaganza in the luxurious Wheeler Hut.
With no fresh snow in the past week, or in the forecast to come, we were concerned that maybe conditions wouldn’t be awesome… Fortunately, the magic of Rogers Pass provided us with 20cm of perfectly preserved snow and some decent visibility, allowing us access up into the Asulkan drainage and some awesome skiing! As with any good trip, the only downside was that we had to leave after only three days, but not to worry – revenge has been vowed.
As always, a huge thanks goes out to Granted Clothing and G3 Skis, for keeping us warm and slidey.
